Man critically hurt in plunge from ridge at Hanauma

Honolulu lifeguards rescued a man who fell into the ocean from the Rock Bridge area at Hanauma Bay today.

The man, believed to be his 60s, was with a group of people when fell from the ridge around 4:10 p.m. He was brought to shore by area lifeguards, who performed CPR on the man until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived.

The man was transported to an emergency room in critical condition.

High surf conditions were present at the time of the incident, with wave faces estimated at 6 to 10 feet.
