Power restored after outages affect more than 6,500 on Oahu

Power was restored to all customers in Makaha by about 2:40 p.m., and to all customers in the Mililani, Wahiawa, Kahuku, Waimea and Waialua areas by about 3 p.m. today as a result of two separate outages, according to the Hawaiian Electric Company.

Earlier this afternoon, more than 6,500 customers lost power in two separate outages on Oahu, HECO said.

At noon, HECO reported via its Twitter account that about 6,290 customers were without power in the Mililani, Wahiawa, Kahuku, Waimea and Waialua areas. Power was restored to 1,990 customers 10 minutes later, leaving 4,300 without power.

In a separate outage at 1 p.m., approximately 2,340 customers were without power in the Makaha area.

HECO spokesman Peter Rosegg said crews were still investigating the cause of the power outages.
