Mauna Lahilahi Beach Park in Makaha was closed at 5 a.m. today and will remain off-limits for seven weeks due to maintenance and erosion, city officials said.

The city’s Department of Parks and Recreation’s maintenance staff will be renovating the comfort station, repairing the irrigation system, clearing out the drainage areas and trimming trees.

The beach park will reopen at 5 a.m. on Nov. 16, officials said today. Signs have been posted notifying the public of the closure and the area has been cordoned off with orange fencing, they said.
