Four people escaped a residential fire in Kapolei on Wednesday night.
Seven units with over 20 firefighters responded to the blaze at a two-story townhouse building at 91-1159 Kamaaha Loop at approximately 8:45p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters observed light smoke emanating from a bedroom of a second-floor unit, said Honolulu fire spokesman Capt. An adult male, female and two children escaped the home. Firefighters brought the fire under control at about 8:50 p.m. and extinguished it at 8:56p.m.
Seguirant said the adult male was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
HFD investigators determined that the fire was accidental and caused by an electrical failure in a lamp.
Damage has been estimated to be $30,000 to the structure and $10,000 to its contents.
