A fisherman was rescued this afternoon at Bamboo Ridge near the Halona Blowhole after a wave swept him away.

At around 1:45 p.m., Ocean Safety lifeguards responded to the scene where they found an unresponsive 56-year-old man. Lifeguards took him to Sandy Beach Park where they performed CPR with the help of fire crews.

Emergency Medical Services arrived and took over treatment with advanced life-support.

The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Ocean Safety said conditions were rough with four-foot waves.
