Adam Harder is the first runner from Hanalani to win a state cross country title, and first athlete from his school to win a state title in any sport.

Adam Harder (Hanalani) took the boys championship in 16:50.85. After Harder finished, he shared an emotional moment as he was hugged by his father, Brad Harder and mother, Cindy Harder.

Hunter Shields (2nd), Adam Hakola (3rd) and Damon Wakefield (4th) led Maui to the boys state XC title, it is the first time in school history they have had three runners in the top five and the first time they have had a top four since Nick Jachowski took third in 2002.

Hawaii Baptist won both Division II team titles, a repeat for the boys squad and first for the girls. HBA had four girls finish in the top 10.

Charles Sakamaki finishes fifth at the state cross country championship, running Iolani's streak of at least one runner in the top five to four straight years. Joshua Lerner was right behind him in sixth place.

Kayla Almeida, Maya Mastick and Melody Lum all finished in the top 10 at today's state cross country meet, the first trio from Punahou to medal in the same year since Teri Brady, Noe Obermeyer and Mia Schiel in 2015.

Kacie Kwan, Johanna Seng, Mari Monico and Lindsay Sasaki all placed in the top 10 for state cross country champion Hawaii Baptist, and Kwan is the first girl from the school to earn three medals. Seng earned her second.

Gianna Sbarbaro of Le Jardin finished in the top 10 of the state cross country race for the second year in a row, she is the only girl her school's history to place in the top 10.
