1:20 p.m.

Kauaʿi Island Utility Cooperative said that as of 1 p.m. service had been restored to about half its utility members.

“We are restoring more members as we bring additional generating units on-line at Port Allen,” the cooperative said in a news release.

There is an islandwide power outage on Kauai due to a technical problem at the island’s utility cooperative.

“KIUC is experiencing an island wide power outage due to a trip at our Kapaia Power Station,” a Kauaʿi Island Utility Cooperative spokeswoman said in a news release before 12:30 p.m. “We anticipate it could be two hours before all members are restored.”
