An HPD motorcyclist was seriously injured today after he was struck by another vehicle near the Kunia off-ramp.

A Honolulu Police Department solo bike officer was injured today after he was apparently struck by another vehicle in the Waianae-bound lanes of the H-1 freeway.

The crash happened at around 1:30 p.m. near the Kunia off-ramp. HPD spokeswoman Michelle Yu said the officer was conducting a traffic stop when he was injured.

Police temporarily closed two lanes of the freeway between Waikele off-ramp and Kunia off-ramp to investigate. All lanes have been re-opened, but traffic cameras showed that the area was still backed up at about 3:30 p.m.

The 32-year-old officer was treated for injuries to his left leg and hip, an Emergency Medical Services reported.

He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
