Waianae auto theft suspect, 27, charged after allegedly injuring officer
A 27-year-old man has been charged with injuring a Honolulu police officer with a stolen vehicle in Waianae.
Charles Ocampo was charged Saturday with first-degree criminal property damage, auto theft, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He remained at the South Beretania Street cell block this afternoon with a $20,000 bail.
Police said Ocampo was driving a stolen vehicle when he struck a Honolulu Police Department vehicle at about 12:35 a.m. Friday, causing injuries to an on-duty officer.
Officers arrested him at the scene on Haleahi Road.
