Woman who died in Saddle Road crash identified

Hawaii island police have identified the woman who died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle traffic crash Wednesday morning on the Daniel K. Inouye Highway near the 21-mile marker in the district of Hilo.

She was identified as Keslyn E. Tulensru, 23, of Hilo.

A passenger van heading westbound and carrying nine people crossed a centerline on the highway, also known as Saddle Road, which was then sideswiped by a 2014 Kenworth fuel tanker with a trailer heading east, according to police.

This was the 28th traffic fatality this year compared with 30 at the same time last year.

Police are also asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information regarding the crash to contact Officer Erhard Autrata at 961-2339 or Erhard.Aurata@hawaiicounty.gov.
