Woman charged in Kapolei Christmas Day stabbing
Prosecutors charged a 36-year-old woman in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Christmas Day in Kapolei.
Veronica K. Hanawahine was charged Wednesday with two counts of second-degree assault. Her bail is set at $15,000.
The stabbing occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Dec. 25.
Police said a suspect later identified as Hanawahine and a 43-year-old woman were involved in a verbal argument that escalated when she allegedly stabbed the victim.
The two women are acquaintances.
Police were called and Hanawahine was arrested in Kapolei on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.
Emergency Medical Services treated the victim and took her in serious condition to a hospital.
Police said her condition was upgraded to stable condition.
