Crews put out residential fire in Kapolei

Honolulu fire investigators have opened an arson case for a residential fire at a home on Kumulipo Street in Kapolei on Jan. 17.

The fire was reported at 4:53 p.m. The Honolulu Fire Department responded with six units staffed with 22 personnel.

Arriving firefighters found smoke coming from the second-floor of the home. The fire was brought under control by 5:03 p.m. and was fully extinguished by 5:30 p.m.

A male resident noticed smoke and exited the home without injury. The residence was not equipped with a working smoke alarm.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and no damage estimates are yet available.

No arrests have been made.
