Moanalua roadwork underway; major lane closures start Wednesday

City officials said repaving work on Moanalua Road in the Pearl City area has begun, and roaming lane closures for utility adjustments will continue today, while major lane closures are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, affecting drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Work is scheduled to start at the intersection of Waimano Home Road and progress eastbound past Hoomalu Street. Work hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Major lane closures begin on Wednesday for cold planing, asphalt resurfacing, and subsequent utility work.

The work, barring weather-related delays, is expected to be completed within 90 calendar days.

The contract includes the pre-construction inspection of manholes, removal of worn-out pavement, and the resurfacing or reconstruction of asphalt concrete pavement. Crews will also adjust utility manhole frames and covers, install pavement markers, and add striping and markings.

Drivers are advised to proceed with caution through construction areas or take an alternate route, city officials said. During work hours, on-street parking will be prohibited, so motorists should observe the dates and times on posted roadway signs. Illegally parked vehicles may be towed, if necessary, at the owner’s expense.

Local residential traffic, deliveries and trash collection will be allowed during construction hours.

Grace Pacific LLC is coordinating local traffic and can be contacted at 690-7047 with any questions or concerns.
