Hawaii RHP Logan Pouelsen throws to first to get Longwood outfielder Cullan Wadsworth on a short hop to the pitcher in the fifth inning of the Longwood vs Hawaii baseball game at Les Murakami Stadium, Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

Logan Pouelsen and Maaki Yamazaki each had three hits and two RBIs to power the short-handed Hawaii baseball team to a 9-3 victory over Longwood tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.

The Rainbow Warriors were without catcher Dallas Duarte (sprained ankle) and center fielder Adam Fogel (sore right shoulder). In the seventh, Pouelsen departed after he was struck by a pitch.

Because of the short turnaround before Thursday’s series opener against Oregon, UH coach Mike Trapasso went with a pitcher-by-committee approach. Dominic DeMiero, pitching for the first time in 17 days, allowed one hit in the first three innings before leaving after relinquishing consecutive one-out singles in the fourth.

Pouelsen pitched 1 2/3 innings and Cade Halemanu did not allow a run in two innings. The Lancers scored all their runs in the seventh inning.

The ’Bows swept the four-game series to improve to 7-5. The Lancers, who used seven pitchers, fell to 3-9.
