Motorcyclist dies after crash on Kaukonahua Road in Waialua
Honolulu police say a 26-year-old man died today after crashing his motorcycle into a guardrail on Kaukonahua Road in Waialua.
They said the man was in a pack of four motorcyclists traveling north about 12:47 p.m. in Kaukonahua’s S-turns when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail. The impact threw the man from his motorcycle, over the guardrail and into a sign post. He landed in some bushes.
Police said an ambulance transported the man in extremely critical condition to Queen’s Medical Center where he later died.
They said a second motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man, also lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the same guardrail.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services says another ambulance treated the second motorcyclist for a shoulder injury and transported him in serious condition to Wahiawa General Hospital.
Police say it is unclear whether or not either of the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
They closed Kaukonahua Road for about three hours for the crash investigation.
