Hilo man to appear in court on attempted murder charge after woman shot

Prosecutors charged a 41-year-old man accused of shooting a 35-year-old woman in Hilo.

Corey K. Napoleon, of Hilo, was to make his initial court appearance at Hilo District Court today after he was charged Friday night with attempted second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree reckless endangering and a firearm charge in connection with the shooting.

His bail is set at $330,000.

The shooting occurred in the area of upper Kaiwiki Road at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center in critical condition. Police said she has since been upgraded to serious but stable condition.
