Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi skated onto the ice Friday to open a winter ice rink at the Hawai‘i Convention Center. Yamaguchi’s skating rink benefits her Always Dream Foundation, which aims to build “awareness around the importance of in-home reading and on empowering low-income families with the tools necessary to level the playing field,” according to the website alwaysdream.org.
