Man in critical condition after East Oahu ocean rescue

A man was in critical condition Sunday after lifeguards pulled him from the water in East Oahu.

About noon, the man, of unknown age, was apparently diving about 400 yards offshore of Kawaikui Beach Park when he was rescued, a Honolulu Emergency Services Department spokeswoman said.

Lifeguards brought him to shore and began CPR. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services treated the man and took him to an in emergency room in critical condition.
