A brief lockdown of five public schools in Leeward Oahu this morning was initiated after a caller reported seeing a male allegedly armed with a gun near Campbell High School.

Michelle Yu of the Honolulu Police Department said the caller reported seeing a male with a gun near the high school at about 8:20 a.m.

Campbell and four other schools went into lockdown as a precautionary measure. The lockdown was lifted minutes later after police gave an all-clear.

Yu said, “Officers responded and searched the immediate and surrounding areas but did not locate a suspect.”

The lockdown for four Leeward Oahu schools has been lifted after Honolulu police gave an all-clear.

Lindsay Chambers, spokeswoman of the Hawaii State Department of Education, said Ewa Beach Elementary School also went into lockdown as a precautionary measure and has since been lifted.

Four public schools in Leeward Oahu are currently on lockdown this morning, according to a spokeswoman.

Campbell High School, Ilima Intermediate School, Pohakea Elementary School and Kaimiloa Elementary School are on lockdown, said Lindsay Chambers of the Hawaii State Department of Education.

The lockdown was initiated due to a report of possible gunshot-like noises originating off-campus near Campbell, Chambers said.

Police officers are in the area.
