The nine new sites, which will offer “swab-and-send” tests curbside, are spread across Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii island. With the latest addition, there will now be 17 COVID-19 drive-thru test sites available at CVS/Longs Pharmacy locations statewide.
CVS offers the self-administered, COVID-19 PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests at no charge to individuals who meet U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention testing criteria and those with insurance.
For patients who do not have insurance, tests are covered via a federally funded program administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Those interested must register in advance at CVS.com and schedule an appointment.
The tests are available for eligible patients ages 10 and older (a parent or legal guardian must complete the online registration for minors). Patients ages 10 to 15 must also be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when tested.
When arriving for testing, patients will be provided with a test kit and given instructions for self-administering it under the observation of a Longs Pharmacy team member.
Most test results are currently available within two to three days.
CVS Health says since March, it has administered more than 5 million COVID-19 tests. The company currently manages more than 4,000 drive-thru COVID-19 test sites at CVS Pharmacy locations in 33 states and Washington, D.C.
