Motorcyclist, 56, dies in crash on H-1 freeway at Kunia onramp

The Honolulu Police Department reported that a 56-year-old motorcyclist died this morning in a single motorcycle collision while traveling westbound on the Kunia onramp onto the H-1 freeway.

There have now been 52 traffic fatalities on Oahu this year, which is about on pace with the 50 that were reported by this point in 2019.

The Honolulu Emergency Medical Services initially reported man as being 57 years old. EMS reported the incident at 9:48 a.m., and paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

HPD said he lost control for an unknown reason and was ejected into the roadway. Speed may have been a factor, but it is unknown is alcohol or drugs played a role.

The investigation is ongoing.
