Fishermen on Lanai find body in waters off Polihua Beach

A group of fishermen on Lanai pulled an unresponsive male, age unknown, from the water on Friday night.

The Maui Police Department said that at about 7:11 p.m., officers responded to a call at Polihua Beach.

Police said no life-saving measures were taken since officers determined the individual was dead.

There appeared to be no signs of foul play, police said.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
