Motorcyclist dies in collision near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport

A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic collision around 1:35 p.m. today near the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

The Honolulu Police Department reported the 26-year-old motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Elliott Street when he veered into the northbound lane and was hit by a commercial truck. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded but found the man dead at the scene. He had been wearing a helmet.

The truck driver, a 29-year-old man, was not injured.

There have been 27 traffic fatalities on Oahu so far this year compared to 25 at this time a year ago.
