Lifeguards rescue sick 31-year-old man kayaking off Mokulua Islands
Ocean Safety personnel rescued a 31-year-old kayaker today off the Mokulua Islands in Kailua.
The man was experiencing illness while kayaking about a mile offshore, according to the 8:30 a.m. 911 call.
Lifeguards found the man on the kayak and brought him to shore.
Emergency Medical Services responded and took over advanced life support.
The man was taken to an area emergency room in serious condition, Emergency Services Department spokeswoman Shayne Enright said in an email.
