Woman, 72, punched in face in Chinatown; suspect arrested

Honolulu police arrested a homeless man after he allegedly punched a 72-year-old woman in the face in an unprovoked attack in Chinatown Tuesday.

The alleged assault occurred on Maunakea Street at about 12:35 p.m. Police said the victim sustained a laceration to her inner lip.

The suspect and victim are not known to one another.

Police arrested the suspect, also 72, on suspicion of second-degree assault.
