Pahoa Avenue reopens after attic fire extinguished

UPDATE: 9:50 a.m.

Pahoa Avenue was reopened at 8:20 a.m. after an attic fire in Kaimuki was extinguished, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

No serious injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to call of a fire at a home at the 3000 block of Pahoa Avenue at about 7:05 a.m.

When they arrived, fire crews observed a smoldering fire emanating in the attic. They extinguished the fire within minutes, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.

Police have closed off a section of Pahoa Avenue in Kaimuki this morning due to a “fire emergency.”

Pahoa Avenue between 15th and 16th avenues has been closed in both directions, according to an HPD bulletin sent at 8:08 a.m.

No serious injuries were immediately reported.
