The earthquake occurred at 5:04 p.m. in the Kaoiki region of the Big Island.
A magnitude 3.9 earthquake shook Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Hawaii island, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake was centered about 15 miles west-northwest of Volcano at a depth of about 1.7 miles at 5:04 p.m.
There was no tsunami threat from the quake, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, which listed the magnitude at 4.1.
