Expect a "Wild" time when Jimmy Borges makes a rare club appearance from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gordon Biersch at Aloha Tower Marketplace. The gig reunites the beloved jazz crooner with his pianist from his Hilton days, Ed Weber, one of Seattle’s best keyboarders, plus bassist Steve Jones, drummer Darryl Pellegrini and guitarist Robert Shinoda — all still pumping out good vibes.

But the evening will be a 90th-birthday celebration for Sylvia Wild, mother of stellar studio musician Ken Wild and brother-keyboardist Dave Wild, joined by Seawind vocalist Pauline Wilson. "Ken and Dave, of course, are part of the legendary Seawind band (coming here from L.A., Texas and the Big Island), and Dave was my pianist back in my jazz days at JB’s at the Colony Surf," said Borges. Further, the incomparable saxophonist Michael Paulo will be part of Mrs. Wild’s unforgettable birthday bash. …

SINGING FOR SUPPER: Yvonne Elliman — Mary Magdalene in "Jesus Christ Superstar" and singer of the Bee Gees’ "If I Can’t Have You" in "Saturday Night Fever" — gave a pair of intimate up-close-and-personal dinner shows recently at Cafe Hula Girl at the Waikiki Landmark. "I’m still star-struck," says George Huffman, cafe general manager. "Her life story was told in between songs, from growing up here to being discovered by Andrew Lloyd Webber and her interactions with Eric Clapton," said Huffman of her 70-minute sets. There was time for fan chats, photos and autographs; Ed Kanoi, Jan Brenner and DJ Nocturna were among the notables attending.

Future monthly showcases (seatings at 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., limited to 40 per performance) will feature Bobby Moderow of Maunalua, Aug. 28, and Nohelani Cypriano, Sept. 25. …

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: Daniel James Kunkel, portraying Herr Zeller in Diamond Head Theatre’s "Sound of Music" (extended through Aug. 8), is becoming typecast as a Nazi. Obviously an accent whiz, Kunkel earned a Po’okela Award when he was Franz Liebkind in "The Producers" and another Po’okela for French policeman Andre Thibaut in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," both at DHT. …

No word about the dining escapades of stars Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz, but their cast members, shooting "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" here, have been regulars at Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar at the Waikiki Beach Marriott, where the crew is ensconced. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, along with some of his pirates, prefers steak at d.k. Steak House, adjacent to Sansei. …
