Dominican upends UHH in soccer

Evan Cordova scored in overtime to give Dominican (San Rafael, Calif.) a 2-1 men’s soccer victory over Hawaii-Hilo yesterday in Hilo.

Gene Okamura scored for the Vulcans (5-5-2, 4-4-2 Pacific West Conference), while David Mendez had the other goal for the Penguins (3-8-3, 3-5-3).

 

Penguins win women’s match

Kelly Miura’s second-half goal lifted Dominican to a 1-0 victory over UHH in yesterday’s women’s soccer match in Hilo.

Julianna Bratsburg assisted on Miura’s goal and Megan Herring made seven saves in the shutout for the Penguins (6-7-1, 5-4-1).

Alysia Ann Barone made five saves for the Vulcans (6-7-1, 5-5).

 

NDNU tops HPU men

Armando Garcia scored two goals to lift Notre Dame de Namur (Belmont, Calif.) to a 2-0 win over Hawaii Pacific in men’s soccer at Kaneohe yesterday.

The Argonauts (11-2-1, 8-1-1) outshot the Sea Warriors 7-2.

Kaye Flache made five saves for HPU (7-6, 6-3).

 

Argonauts tip Sea Warriors in women’s match

Alexis Tershey scored to break a tie and give Notre Dame de Namur a 2-1 win over Hawaii Pacific in women’s soccer at Kaneohe yesterday.

Tershey’s goal came in the 84th minute.

Sarah Biser of the Argonauts (5-4-2, 3-4-2) opened the scoring with a goal in the 13th minute.

Sanoe Souza tied it 1-1 for the Sea Warriors (4-8, 4-4) in the 63rd minute.
