A routine traffic stop led Big Island police to an illegal marijuana farm with 150 plants yesterday in Volcano.

Hilo officers stopped Keahimaukaopuna Neizman, 32, Thursday morning and recovered 660.8 grams of dried marijuana and $200 from the vehicle, Big Island police said. Officers also found drug baggies, a scale and scissors.

Thursday night, vice officers and agents with the state Narcotics Enforcement Division served a search warrant on Neizman’s 28-acre Amau Road property in Volcano. They found 151 marijuana plants in two indoor grow rooms and a greenhouse outside. They also confiscated 15 pounds of dried marijuana, a gun, and about 28 grams of hashish.

Neizman was charged  today with first-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, three counts of promoting marijuana, promotion of a harmful drug in the second-degree, four counts of drug paraphernalia, and two firearm offenses.

He is being held at the Hilo cellblock unable to post $31,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
