Kapolei resident says frightened man broke into home

A Waipahu man allegedly broke into a Kapolei home after telling the 24-year-old resident he had been beaten by a group of men early Tuesday morning.

Police said a 24-year-old man living in the house was awakened by suspicious noises at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday. The resident saw a man sitting on his front porch and asked him what he was doing. The man told the resident that he had been mobbed, police said.

The 24-year-old man told police he walked into the street to see what was happening, but saw nothing. The man then went into his house without his permission and was found sitting on the floor behind a chair, police said. When confronted, the suspect ran from the house through a back door, police said.

Police arrested a 35-year-old Waipahu man nearby for unauthorized entry and on drug charges after officers found a packet in the suspect’s pocket containing what appeared to be methamphetamine.
