Aiona and Hamamoto finally working together

Wonder if the principal over at Saint Louis School ever had occasion to meet with the new chief fundraiser? If so, it might have been fun to be a fly on the wall then.

That’s because Pat Hamamoto, former state schools superintendent, pictured, is Saint Louis’ principal, while the newly hired executive vice president of development and recruitment is former Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona.

Not that Aiona’s hire is surprising: He’s a Crusader alum, trustee and former assistant basketball coach. But Hamamoto had famously strained relations with the former Republican governor, and it would be curious to see how much of that bad blood seeped down to the office of the No. 2 guy, Aiona.

Maybe the holiday glow will ease the transition. Have another egg nog, people.

S#*t hits the fan for vocal Hilo lecturer

"S#*t happens."

Just ask University of Hawaii at Hilo lecturer Daniel Peterson, who was suspended for using the phrase in front of students — "in the context of free will and determinism," he told the Hawaii Tribune-Herald.

Well, that’s a new one. Usually the word gets put to other uses — like by comedian George Carlin, who wanted to distinguish his valuable "stuff" from your … well, you know. Or to illustrate a man’s worldview, as in the current TV show, "S#*t My Dad Says."

If you want more definitions, as well as some interesting derivations, consult any respectable dictionary. It’s in there.
