H-1 westbound lanes reopen at Makakilo

Heavy rains and flooding prompted police to briefly close westbound H-1 freeway traffic at Makakilo and re-route it through Kapolei. The lanes reopened shortly before 7 p.m.

Puhawai Street in Waianae Valley remained closed.

Police also closed the two center lanes on Farrington Highway in the area east of Leihoku Street in Waianae due to a downed pole.

Police said a truck struck a pole at 4:36 p.m., causing the pole to lean, bringing its wires onto the ground.

A lane in both directions on Farrington remains open.

Motorists are advised to expect delays as crews make repairs. Also there are reports of thunder and lightning in the area, which may further delay repairs.
