Touristhurt in mo-ped crash

A 40-year-old tourist was in critical condition after a mo-ped accident Tuesday near Heeia State Park in Kaneohe.

Police said the woman was headed north on Kamehameha Highway when she lost control of the 2010 white mo-ped on a slight curve in the road at 2:26 p.m. The mo-ped slid onto the shoulder.

The woman suffered head injuries and two broken legs.

Paramedics took her to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition.

Sushi machine recovered

Hawaii County police report that a sushi-making machine stolen in February was found on May 28.

Police said Wednesday they received a tip that helped them locate the nearly 100-pound machine valued at $12,000 two days after a CrimeStoppers bulletin was issued May 26.

The sushi machine disappeared during a burglary in Hilo in the 700 block of Kilauea Avenue.
