Kaneohe man accused of assaulting wife once, violating TRO 62 times

A 30-year-old Kaneohe man was arrested Tuesday for investigation of 62 counts of violating a temporary restraining order and one of second-degree assault involving his estranged wife.

Police said the woman had a restraining order against the man, but the couple was trying to get back together until the man assaulted her.

The couple got into an argument at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at their Kaalaea Road home when the suspect allegedly began to head butt his 26-year-old wife. He then allegedly tried to choke her.

Police said the suspect left the home and was arrested when he returned that afternoon.

The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was treated and released.

Police said the man violated the restraining order each day he had contact with his wife since they started trying to work things out on April 3 and each time he called or texted the woman while she was being treated at the hospital for the alleged abuse.

Officers arrested the man Tuesday about 1:50 p.m. at his Kaalaea Road home.
