Hawaii's John John Florence put up a two-wave score of 14.77 on Friday to reach the third round at the Quicksilver Pro France.

SEIGNOSSE Le Penon, France » John John Florence was one of three Hawaii surfers to reach the third round of the ASP World Championship Tour’s Quiksilver Pro France on Friday.

Florence overcame a slow, wave-starved set to outpoint Austalia’s Matt Wilkinson 14.77 to 12.93.

He faces fellow Hawaii surfer Sebastian Zietz in the third round, after Zietz scored a 17.60 to beat Australia’s Bede Durbidge (15.43).

"I was definitely scared when I saw him going for the air, but yeah I’m just stoked to get some good waves," Zietz said. "This is amazing; anyone complaining with the waves today is kind of crazy. This is by far the best QS I’ve ever surfed … as long as I don’t get last I’m happy."

Frederick Pattachia joins Florence and Zietz as part of the Hawaii contingent in Round 3, where he’ll face Australia’s Kai Otton.

The Quiksilver Pro France is stop eight of 10 on the tour and its waiting period runs through Oct. 6.
