[RIGHT] Helen Hunt wore a blue column gown from fast-fashion retailer H&M. She said she chose it because it was both accessible and because the company has launched a substantial green initiative. She did wear it, however, with hundreds of thousands of dollars of borrowed jewels.

[LEFT] Quvenzhane Wallis chose her jeweled navy blue Armani Junior dress "because it was sparkly and puffy." She added a silver headband and a puppy purse.
[RIGHT] Jennifer Lawrence, left, was the belle of the ball in a white-and-pale-pink strapless gown, sophisticated pulled-back hair and diamond-ball earrings.

Giorgio Armani could claim some big wins at the Oscars on Sunday night: The designer dressed best-actress nominees Jessica Chastain, Naomi Watts and Quvenzhane Wallis.

Chastain called her copper-tone strapless gown "a very ‘Happy birthday, Mr. President’ dress." She and Watts were considered fashion "gets" for the Oscars.

But red-carpet watcher Christos Garkinos predicted "Who wore Dior best?" would be a big part of the next-day buzz. Dior dressed Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron, and they both hit it right in white.
