Glass-shattering tantrum over cigarettes leads to Waikiki arrest

Frustrated by a cashier at a Waikiki mini-mart who refused to sell him a pack of cigarettes because he didn’t have the proper identification, a 24-year-old man punched the booth’s glass window and ended up being arrested.

Police said the incident occurred at 10:45 p.m. Sunday and the suspect fled after cracking the window. He was located a few hours later and arrested on suspicion of criminal property damage.

The cashier received minor injuries from the falling glass.
