Flights between San Diego, Calif. and Lihue, Kauai begin today by Alaska Airlines, which will operate the flight daily through August 26.

The daily service will drop to four times a week thereafter, according to a statement from the airline.

Flights depart San Diego at 10 a.m. and arrive on Kauai at 1:10 p.m.; and depart Kauai at 11:10 a.m. and arrive in San Diego at 7:30 p.m.

When the four-flights-per-week schedule begins, flights will depart San Diego on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and will depart Kauai Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
