Hawaii finishes off four-game sweep of NYIT

Adam Hurley had three hits and drove in the go-ahead run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning as Hawaii completed its second four-game sweep this season with a 4-2 win over New York Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon at Les Murakami Stadium.

LJ Brewster added an RBI double in the fifth for Hawaii (19-25), which outscored the Bears (4-40) 33-2 in the series.

NYIT scored its only two runs in the top of the first inning on a two-run double by Anthony Martelli.

Hawaii starter Gordon Cardenas gave up four hits in 1 2/3 innings. Quintin Torres-Costa (3-2) earned the win in relief, allowing two hits in 4 1/3 shutout innings with four strikeouts. He punched out the side in the fourth inning.

Juliene Jones retired all nine batters he faced to earn his third save.

Hawaii returns to Big West play on Friday hosting Long Beach State for the first of three games.
