Marcus Mariota named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Marcus Mariota has earned his sixth Sports Illustrated cover with a record-setting performance in his NFL debut Sunday.

His four-touchdown first half of a 42-14 victory over Tampa Bay lands the Tennessee Titans’ quarterback on the front of the Sept. 21 issue under the headline, "The New QB: Marcus Mariota and His Historic Opening Statement."

The sixth cover, this one a regional issue, ties him with LeBron James for the most covers by an athlete before age 22.

The 2014 Heisman Trophy winner was last on the SI cover in May following his selection as the No. 2 overall pick in the April NFL Draft. His first SI cover came in August 2013 prior to then start of his sophomore season at the University of Oregon.

The Saint Louis School graduate leads the Titans against the Browns Sunday in Cleveland.
