Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at a campaign rally at the Redding Municipal Airport today in Redding, Calif.

REDDING, Calif. » Donald Trump singled out a black supporter at a rally in California today as he sought to demonstrate his support among African-Americans, saying, “Look at my African-American over here!”

At the rally today, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee was in the middle of describing a past campaign event, at which he said a black supporter “slugged” protesters who were dressed in a “Ku Klux Klan outfit.”

“I want to find out what’s going on with him,” Trump said of the supporter at the previous rally. He then appeared to spot a black person in the audience of today’s event in northern California.

“Oh, look at my African-American over here,” an excited Trump said, while pointing into the crowd. “Look at him. Are you the greatest? You know what I’m talking about? OK!”

Polls have consistently shown that when it comes to support among African-American voters, Trump trails his likely general election opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton.

After pointing out the audience member, Trump then went on with his story, which appeared to match the events of a March rally that took place in Arizona.

“We had an African-American guy at one of the rallies a month ago, and he was sitting there behaving,” Trump said. “And we had protesters inside the arena. And they were dressed in a Ku Klux Klan outfit, OK?

“This African-American gets up and, man, he slugged these guys. He slugged them.”

Trump said many people thought the black supporter at the earlier rally was an opponent of his campaign.

“He was like this great guy, military guy, we have tremendous African-American support,” he said. “The reason is I’m going to bring jobs back to our country.”

Trump spent much of the Redding rally bashing Clinton. He also pledged to “play heavy in California” in an effort to capture the Electoral College’s biggest prize in November.

Trump is so ignorant that it is embarrassing. God help America.

    • klastri says:

Mr. Trump’s ignorance in foreign policy, economic policy and the Constitution is really remarkable. Trump has somehow attracted supporters who actually know LESS than he does – as impossible as that sounds. That’s the really discouraging thing.

Your comments are more fitting for the sitting President.
The typical Obama supporter, with hand outstretched for entitlements, sees only his skin color and/or the media hype that has given him an 8 year pass.
Obama is our Nero. Thanks to his total ineptitude, our country, and the world, burns.
But you can keep your doctor.

      • Allaha says:

A typical liberal arrogant leftist comment mr.klastri, looking down on blue collar less educated African Americans who may support Trump.

(But finally, it seems, the SA editorial staff is starting to think about the power of the headline. This one is hilarious if you stop and think about it.)

You are an example of why The Donald continues to be a smash hit.

One can have not greater advantage than to be underestimated.

Trump no doubt hopes you and those of your ilk continue to talk stink about him. Indeed he quite appears to be enjoying it. Not since FDR have we had a POTUS candidate who so enjoys the sting of battle in a campaign.

    • Allaha says:

allie and klastri comment are without substance and merely hate mail.
African Americans have the most to gain from a Trump presidency. because he will bring back blue collar factory jobs which traditionally are held by many A A’s . These jobs have in the past been lost to China, Mexico and illegal Invaders. Trump promises to change those suicidal politics of the establishment!

      • klastri says:

You’re lying, of course. Both of us have written plenty of substance. Maybe you just don’t understand what substance is.

Of course, Mr. Trump cannot bring back jobs – unless they are government jobs. The President has no power to do force companies to bring private jobs back to the U.S. Even his own clothing lines are made in other countries, but you don’t recognize that. This is the kind of ignorance that I’ve been writing about.

        • sarge22 says:

Here’s a little more substance that you may be able to absorb. More ammo for President Trump as continues to whip crooked Hillary. “About 458,000 people gave up looking for work in May, pushing the percentage of working-age Americans in the labor force to near a four-decade low of 62.6%.
That was the main reason why the unemployment rate in May fell to 4.7%, the lowest since 2007.”

another racist comment by trumpy. “my African American supporter” – it sounds like he owned the guy like a slave. trumpy is an ignoramus and a bigot.

    • thos says:

The more folks like you attempt to play the race card, the less power it has.

      • Allaha says:

I agree, illogical distorting hate comments like that help Trump.

        • klastri says:

Actually, they don’t. There thankfully aren’t enough angry, poorly educated white people to elect him.

        • sarge22 says:

Actually, they do.Thankfully there are enough angry people to elect Mr Trump. When these thugs start waving the flag of Mexico it’s all over. How dumb is that? “Make America Great Again” Trump hats and shirt sales have given a big boost to retail sales. He has already started to strenghten the economy.

        • klastri says:

sarge22 – A big boost? That’s what your research shows? Right.

Reminds me of the Drumpf rally last November when his campaign staff spotted an African-American woman in the crowd and escorted her up to sit behind Drumpf in the VIP section on the stage so she’d be in the TV picture when the cameras focused on Drumpf’s speech.

Once she realized she’d been “Jemima’d” (just like this guy was “Tom’d”), she busted out a book and started reading.

    Here’s a revealing interview with her…
