Motorcyclist critically injured in Waikiki crash
A 39-year-old Honolulu man is in critical condition in the hospital after he was thrown from his motorcycle Tuesday afternoon in Waikiki.
Police said the accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. when the motorcyclist was traveling south on Saratoga Road near Fort DeRussy when lost control and hit a curb.
The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and hit a tree.
Police said the man was not wearing a helmet and was taken to the hospital with critical head injuries.

It ain’t IF you crash or get hit on a bike…it’s WHEN
Seems more than just that. Yesterday afternoon was pouring rain, visibility poor, most roads were slick or flooded, zero visibility for all of the potholes, rain gratings, gravel and other road hazards for a motorcycle, etc. Therefore really bad idea to be riding a motorcycle under those conditions AND not wear a helmet and other protective gear. At some point these motorcyclists have to make a decision and just park their bike during really dangerous conditions and walk, take the bus or Uber/Lyft to where they need to go.
It’s a difficult situation when you leave home on your motorcycle and while you are gone the rain begins. I ride and that is stressful but the article didn’t say this was rain related. There could have been numerous other things that caused him to lose control. I just hope he survives and recovers.
