State health officials advise the public to stay out of the water at Lake Wilson due to a sewage spill caused by a broken pipe.

The discharge occurred Thursday near 319 Walker Avenue where approximately 2,850 gallons of wastewater spilled into a nearby storm drain, according to the Department of Health’s Clean Water Branch. The drain empties into the lake, also known as the Wahiawa Reservoir, near the end of Olive Avenue.

City crews have since recovered 300 hundred gallons of wastewater from the lake.

Warnings signs were posted and staff have collected water samples. The public is advised to stay out of the water until signs are removed.
