A house fire in Pearl City left two people dead.

Two people were killed this morning in a fire at a single-story Pearl City house where an elderly couple lived, and another woman was taken to a hospital, Honolulu Fire Capt. Scot Seguirant said.

Firefighters did not immediately have ages or genders for the two people who died, Seguirant said.

“It was reported to HFD personnel that two occupants were reported missing and possibly in the home. HFD personnel conducted primary and secondary searches of the home and located both victims inside,” Seguirant wrote in a follow-up email.

A 37-year-old woman who was parked outside the home suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, said Shayne Enright, spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Emergency Services.

The three-alarm fire at the single-story home at 2333 Amo’omo’o Street was reported at 2:38 a.m. The first unit arrived at 2:48 a.m. and the fire was under control at 3:16 a.m., Seguirant said. The blaze was extinguished at 5:42 a.m., he said.

“It was fully involved upon arrival,” Seguirant said. “In this case it was a three-alarm fire.”

In all, 12 HFD units and 43 personnel responded.

A neighboring structure also was damaged and Hawaiian Electric Co. crews responded to a downed power line.

The fire is still under investigation and damage estimates are $278,000 for the initial structure and $139,000 to its contents.
