Man dies after assault in Waikiki; suspect arrested
Police have opened a murder investigation involving the death of a 34-year-old man in Waikiki.
Positive identification of the victim is pending.
Police said the victim was found unresponsive on the sidewalk on Feb. 20. Emergency Medical Services treated and transported him to a nearby hospital.
His condition worsened and he was pronounced dead on March 1.
On Wednesday, police reclassified the case to a murder from an unattended death after an investigation revealed the victim was assaulted.
Police arrested a 29-year-old man in Waikiki Thursday night on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the victim’s death.
