Fuel tanker crash closes lane in Nanakuli

One Waianae-bound lane of Farrington Highway was closed for a couple hours today after a crash involving a tanker truck in Nanakuli, authorities said.

Police said the lane was closed near Laumania Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. and reopened at about 5:30 p.m.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Scot Seguirant said the crash involved a Toyota Tacoma pickup and a fuel tanker truck. Twelve firefighters in four units responded at about 2:55 p.m. to help secure the scene and found no fuel was leaking. No one was injured in the crash.

The tanker, which was carrying about 80,000 gallons of gas and diesel fuel, was not damaged, but the rig was left inoperable, Seguirant said.

Police closed one lane while waiting for the tractor and tanker to be removed.
