Beef shish kebabs are served over rice, with sides of hummus, tabouleh and pita at Kan Zaman on Nuuanu Avenue. The owners of Kan Zaman will expand to Kaimuki.

The Moroccan and Lebanese restaurant known as Kan Zaman, or “once upon a time,” in Arabic, will expand to Kaimuki.

Restaurant partners and chef-owners Kamal Jemmari and Youssef Dakroub will open on the second floor of 1127 11th Avenue, above Ichiriki Japanese Nabe Restaurant, which also will be setting up operations in the building.

Kan Zaman’s first location has been operating at 1028 Nuuanu Ave. since 2013.

Like the flagship restaurant, the new Kan Zaman will serve traditional dishes such as falafel, and specialties including badinjan mahchi.
