Center for Korean Studies at UH offers taste of Seoul

You don’t have to travel to Korea to see an example of a traditional royal palace. The University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Center for Korean Studies buildings were inspired by Kyongbok Palace in Seoul. The main building is adapted from the design of the palace’s throne hall, or Kunjongjon, where the king’s coronation and court rituals were held. The octagonal pavilion was inspired by the Hyangwonjeong Pavilion on the palace grounds. Completed in 1979, they are a marvel of carpentry and stonework by Korean craftsmen. It’s an ideal spot for photos, so get those selfie sticks ready!
