Road work on Moanalua Road extended, HECO says

Hawaiian Electric Company said utility work on Moanalua Road across from Waimalu Elementary School in Aiea has been extended to early next week.

HECO is replacing two 138-kilovolt transmission line poles along Moanalua Road. Daytime foundation work, which takes place from 9 a .m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, has been extended into early next week. Rock in the area has impeded drilling, according to HECO.

Nighttime work, meanwhile, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, continues through Dec. 1, except for Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.

Two westbound lanes of traffic and the adjacent sidewalk along Moanalua Road west of the intersection at Kaahele Street will be closed during work hours. Westbound traffic will be contraflowed onto the middle turning lane. Patrons, meanwhile, will continue to have access to parking lots for businesses in the area.
